Steelhead,

Get used to it. When you get older that will be the norm even in nice weather.

suprising what a difference of 1000 ft in elevation will make.

Pb Slinger-

Years ago I took a picture of an identical thermometer mounted in a near-identical situation. I used it for a Christmas card that year.

Oh yeah, the difference was the pointer was on -56 degrees F early December in Fairbanks! Sniff, I miss them days!

Last week's temps taking a run at 80 was F-ing killing me!

For the past few days and looking ahead to next few, we're sitting at around 113-115. Right now it's almost 11pm and the temp is still 105.

I just got home from a base near Tikrit, Iraq for a little R&R. 120+ has been the norm back there unless there is a dust storm then it usually stays below 110. One of the reasons I chose July for R&R was the heat. It's been a little over 100 here at home, California, but as we say, it's a dry heat!

According to the Weather Channel, it's 89 in the shade, heat index of 97 (in the shade). The thermometer outside in the sun reads flat on 100 - which puts the heat index at about 112.

Humidity of 68 percent, dew point at 74.

It should be 5 degrees or so hotter by 4 p.m.

It was 118 yesterday and it is supposed to be 116 today. Dry heat or not, 118 is a scorcher no matter how you look at it. It was 92 when I left for work at 5:00 am on Friday morning. It NEVER cools off anymore- that's why I am moving to the mtns next year <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

H60Blackhawk,

Enjoy your leave and take care or yourself. Tell the troops to ignore the ****heads in the media. You've got more supporters than you can imagine.

The hottest weather I've ever experienced was 117 in Phoenix. I could not live there.

I find I like heat less every year. I ought to move to Alaska, came real close once.

We took a trip to SLC the other day to go to Lagoon (amusement park). It was 103 when we left the park about 5pm. When we hit Park City an hour later, it was in the mid 80's. That 20 degree difference felt SO good. There's no way I could take 120 degree weather. I'd rather it be an equal amount below 60 than above.
