No I have yet to be shot directly.

I got a flu shot last fall.

Duck hunter across the lake fired at some ducks directly between he and I. Threw myself flat in the grass. BB's passed overhead. Muddy down there too.

Had a fellow's .410 shotgun go off once on loading the thing, 15 feet away. The charge buried itself an inch beside my foot. It still itches when I think on it...

There was one other time fast drawing with those Speer plastic bullets I pulled a shot and hit a steel stanchion and shot myself in the forehead but that probably doesn't count. Sure hurt like hell and blackened both eyes.

Sure. 22LR through the calf of my left leg by my brother, who was demonstrating his execrable muzzle discipline. ("It's okay, it's not loaded. See?" [spit!] "Oops...")

I don't want to lessen the impact of the stories of those that have been "really" shot.

this wasnt me and the wound wasnt as bad as ScottF's but his post reminded me of it.....

one of my uncles was home from the military on leave and one of his brothers wanted to show him his new to him 22 revolver.....so 5 brothers went out behind my grandparents house to shoot this revolver....

they were out shooting grasshoppers and BSing....and after one of the shots my uncle Bill, standing 5 feet to the side or so, "discovered" the timing was off with the cylinder and a piece of lead would get shaved off the bullet....well he discovered it by said piece of lead nailing him dead center in the forehead....

Bill not being one to pass up a perfect setup like that dropped like a sack of rocks as soon as he felt it hit and played dead...until he couldnt hold back his laughter anymore....and got back up.....the sliver didnt leave much of a wound, but apparently if all you have to remove it is a pair of fingernail clippers you can wind up with a perfect "bullet hole" wound on your forehead trickling blood....

well the brothers walked back to the house laughing and bout the time they hit the back gate they got a bright idea.....Bill laid on the ground, the other 4 brothers each grabbed a limb, packed Bill in the back door, dropped him on the kitchen floor where grandma was making dinner and they said "Mom, we shot Bill....." they had to catch grandma before she hit the floor and started yelling "Bill's alright!.....we were joking!"

guess it wasnt to pleasant at home for my dad and uncles when granddad got home and heard the story
