Some of you must have some experience with shooting the Hornady 500 gr round nose in a 45/70 reload. As you know the bullet is meant for 458 win mag.

<br>How does it perform, expand, at 1700 fps from a 45/70?

The Hornady book says it's usefull velocity is from 1600 to 2600 FPS and I see in the Ruger #1 they got up to 1700 FPS with under the Maximum load, so up close it may be fine, but farther out you may lose too much speed. I have gone on their website and asked questions about their bullets and they have replied with the info I have asked before, so you could try and see what they say based on what your rifle produces velocity wise.
