Friend has one in 30-06 that is just grogeous, no scope or even a base, just the gun. it is used but like stinkin' new - anyone have an idea what it would be worth?

If it is pristine, with the box and paperwork, then I'd say $1100 is a fair price.

Is your 7mm-08 a two position or three position safety? A two position has a 6x48 thread size and the newer 3 position are 8x40.
Assuming it is the new version and your walnut has some good coloring I'd start at $1050 and accept $975. A lot depends on how "flashy" the Claro looks.
