I bought some Justin's peanut butter in the little single serving packets. My thought was that they would be convenient for camping. Well they are convenient, but man I don't like that peanut butter. It is the kind that sucks all the moisture out of your mouth and you have take a drink of water to avoid coughing peanut butter'ed tortilla all over your buddy. grin Kinda like the 'crackers, vegetable' in MREs. Everybody has their own taste in food, but I will certainly be packing the Skippy next time.

Are you kneading the packet before you eat it?

I have eaten 100's of Justin's and never experienced that.

I'm an almond butter man myself. Unless I need bait for mousetraps.

Yes, the Justin's Almond Butter is a LOT better. I don't touch "regular" peanut butter, 'cause it is nothing but artery-clogging trans fat.

I've had some that tasted like that because they were old.

Most of the "regular peanut butter is heavy with not only trans fat but lots of sugar. If you are eating mainstream, ie; Skippy, Jiff etc, look for the Natural. Still some added sugar but a lot better for you than "regular"

You guys might want to try the Artisana nut butters too. They have coconut, cashew, macadamia etc.

Many stores with bulk foods have peanut butter machines. You dump the peanuts or almonds in the top and your butter comes out the bottom. Good stuff with NO additives of any kind. If you want honey or something, you can mix it in yourself.

I don't know what you are talking about. I've got a jar of Skippy Super Chunk in front of me as I post this. There are no trans fats listed on the food label. There are three grams of saturated fat, but that's out of a total of 16 grams per serving.
It has little sugar in it. Total carbs is 7 grams of which only 3 g's are sugar. Has a total of 7 g's of protein for you protein addicts.
Peanut buter is one of the healthier things to eat. Especially if you want to consume "good" fats which off set the effects of the "bad" fats. E

Yeah, and I also know how to read a food label. Now I realize this is asking alot of some, but it really is worth learning. You see, couple with some knowledge as to how the body utilizes food, we can make better decisons about our food choices. E

Oh just for the record, I too can read a food label and I see that both Skippy and Jiff "Natural" peanut butters contain added Palm oil and added sugar, while Adam's lists only peanuts on the ingriedient list.

And yes peanut butter is good food, some are just better than others.
