I cannot offer up any advise on the Margaret as I have never been in there either. I hear that is a good tag to get though. Good luck.
On a side note my wife has 8 preference points and couldn't even draw a cow tag..... I can't believe her luck

If there is any serious physical effort involved, I'll likely pack my .30-06 that I snapped together for last year's elk hunt. It wears a McMillan Edge and weighs only 7lbs 4oz with scope, scope caps, and 4 rounds of ammo. It's a joy to haul around compared to the whizzum. Another factor will be anticipated shot distance. If I'm realistically looking at shots beyond 250yds, then the 7 WSM will probably be my choice.

I have not been in the Margaret unit but I would guess shot distances will be on the shorter side. My brother and I and a friend all drew Blue Mtn cougar tags. Looking forward to hunting them in the snow this winter.

This really sucks.....The whole draw thing is getting old. I couldn't even draw a local B doe tag....and I had a point.
Please God, give me some good tags this year....

I've been in the Margeret....it all depends on where you do your looking/hunting there. You can catch elk anywhere from 6 to 600 yards. Big timber,2nd growth, reprod, christmas trees. Its all there.

That averages to less than 1 1/2 per person. We drew both deer and elk tags. What kind of sucks is that a big chunk of land between Spokane and Colville are now 4-point or better units for deer this year.

That big chunk is where I live. And of course I got soaked for Multi-Season deer for the $180, then they change the antler restriction.....no dinks for me.
Please God, give me some good tags this year....

Nada for my son and I (deer, elk and sheep).
I've got 14 years/pts. in for elk and my son has 13 years/pts. What's a guy to do..........? Not sure that the system in place actually acknowledges the years/pts. that one has accumulated as the dept. says it does.
Oh well, perhaps next year.
Good luck to others.......................

I drew Coweman Cow Tag (Modern) and an E. WA buck hunt. Pretty excited. I used to work down in that area and there are a ton of elk. A friend of mine took a cow last year in that unit and saw many more elk during the hunt. I ended up with a second doe in the Cheney unit. Never hunted there but spent alot of time in Steptoe. I looked at the harvest results for the Cheney unit and looks like that area gets hit pretty hard. I plan on doing some scouting this year to check out the public land and see if the local landowners are willing to let a couple of guys hunt for a few days. Anyone have experience in the Cheney unit? Not looking to steal your honey spot, more looking for for info on hunting pressure and major spots to avoid.

Dye7Barrel: A lot of the landowners there won't let you on their property if you DON'T have a doe tag. They know the fastest way to get deer numbers on their land down is to kill does. You'll have no problem getting access there. Just try to do it in the summer. I hunt units 127-145 quite a bit and see lots of farmers looking for doe hunters.

Anyone familiar with the Mt. Spokane GMU124 area? Any insights to share? Got drawn for a SECOND DEER (2 tags) antlerless-whitetail late muzzleloader hunt in that area. At least I get to hunt whitetails again.
