I have bought and sold tons of stuff on this site, and I hope I'm not doing anything wrong, but here goes...

My daughter, Paige Cahoon, died on December 7th, 2010 from a 6 year battle with cancer. I hope no one has to go through such a terrible thing, as it is worse than you can imagine. Since then we have been exploring the options of a Foundation in her name, but that is costly and time consuming.
.

In the meantime, my daughters are participating in a Susan G. Komen 60 mile "Walk For The Cure" this coming November. It takes $2500.00 per person to enter, with the proceeds going to the Susan G. Komen cancer research foundation.

I am offering this Swarovski scope for an auction to generate what money I can to help with the cost of the walk in November. This may be the wrong place, but the Classifieds are watched more than any other forum, so I am posting it here.

It is a Swarovski STS 80mm scope with a 20-60X eyepiece. It is in excellent used condition. No scratches on any lenses, the body is in great shape and I am including a hard case from Sportsman's Warehouse.

I will donate 100% of the money raised over $1000.00 against the cost of this scope. I want at least $1500.00, but if anyone feels so inclined as to bid past the $1500.00 mark, I would gladly add that to the donation. If this doesn't work, I will go ahead and list it for sale in the usual manner. Thanks for your understanding...

Shrapnel, I'm sorry to hear about the loss of your daughter and congratulate you on your efforts to support cancer research. Your daughters could probably supply a link from the Komen foundation that allows donors to make online pledges for your daughters' participation. If you post that information here, I'll bet you could raise a fair amount of money.

I would like to make a donation of $100 to the cause. Could you provide me with a link or address to make the donation?

Best wishes to you and your family,
Forrest

Hi -
My dad let me know about the amazing response he recieved to this post. Many have requested information regarding The Susan G Komen 3 Day Walk that my little sister and I are participating in in memory of our dear sister, Paige. I am attaching the link that will take you to my little sister's fundraising page.
The money raised goes towards breast cancer research, which in many cases covers other cancers as well.

If the widget doesn't show up, you can go to www.the3day.org click on the Donate button at the top of the page, and then you can search for a partipant, Caroline Matthews to donate.

I am so touched to see the responses, the stories you have shared, and the desire to help. Again, the link will take you to the Susan G Komen site where you can donate. We are currently working on putting together the Paige L. Cahoon Fund, which will hopefully eventually be the Paige L Cahoon Foundation, that will provide comfort materials to those being treated for cancer. As many of you can attest, this is quite a process and we'd be happy to keep you posted.
THANK YOU for your support and all your thoughts and prayers and well wishes. I am truly overwhelmed to feel the level of love and caring from you all, and my heart goes out to those who know too well the effects that cancer and the loss of a loved one can have.

Hope this link works (Assuming your little sister's name is Caroline Matthews). Can't imagine what you have gone through, have three daughters of my own. Wish I could afford to run up the price on the spotting scope, will just have to go with a donation.

Good luck with your fundraising, I've heard the three day journey is life changing.

Shrapnel,

Sorry to hear about your daughter. I have four of my own who have been blessed with good health so far.

I can't use the scope, but count me in for a $100.00 donation.

PS. I have your address. To whom do I make out the check?

Schrap,
One of my close friends 16 year old nephew just started chemo. I really look forward to the day cancer is a thing of the past. Here in the next week or so there are a bunch of us that are putting the bic to our heads and shaving our mellons as a fundraiser and to show support.
I am so sorry to hear about your loss. I will watch this post for the bidding to start. bless you and your family, Casey

Checks can be made to:
Caroline Matthews
or Susan G. Komen Foundation with your name phone number and address attached for Caroline to fill out a donation form, that way a tax receipt can be issued.

Thanks, Kirk

I just made a donation using the link provided...

This Link to the Donation Page

...it's quick and easy to make a donation by credit card in any amount and you can even choose to pay the donation over multiple months. Take five minutes to make the effort and it'll leave you with a good feeling for a long, long time.

Best of luck to Caroline and Karmen; Paige, I'm sure is very proud of her sisters.

Don't need the scope but will donate to your girls walk. My wife has brain cancer. It is a terrible disease. I am so sorry to hear about your loss but glad you had six years with her. Paige is a very pretty Lady.

God bless you all.

I'll go $1200. If I don't get the scope, I'll make a donation. My MIL is currently undergoing treatment for recurrent Breast Cancer. It's a terrible disease.
