Soap is for sissys. Step out of the shower, straight to the mirror and shave. Why get out of the shower? I shave while I'm still in. My wife asks how I can do that without a mirror. I told her my face is in the same place it's been for over 60 years. I pretty well know where my ears and nose are. Same here. I just lather up while washing my hair and mow 'em down.

Been using a brush and mug for many years myself. Shave in the shower as well since I usually have both my face and my head to shave.

Get ya a shaving brush,..some soap chips,. an old coffee mug, a dollop of hair conditioner, and get back to the basics.
Ya cain't beat it fer a close shave. I have been using Noxzema for 30+ years. Nothing shaves my steel bristles closer.

Been using a brush for a long time. Can't use my straight razors anymore to much hand shake. I just use a coffee mug for the soap. I buy 5 round cakes of a goat's milk soap made by a local farmer. I put them in the mug, the mug in a pot of water bring to a boil to melt the soap then I have a solid cake in the mug. Water can't get under the cake to cause wee beasties to grow and the cake doesn't move around in the mug. Always hang my brush bristles down from a brush holder. I use two Merkur HD 43C with Merkur blades on alternate days. That gives the blade time to realign the edge. Get about four times the shaves using that method than just one blade every day. Always used two straight razors for the same reason.

Keeping the razor in any kind of oil, (baby, mazola, olive,3in1, whatever) will displace water on the blades. It will keep microscopic rust from taking the edge off the blades and they will last much longer.

I use Noxzema. One time in 'nam we ran out of the canned stuff but had plenty of female stuff, make up etc. Also found Kotex made a great blood and wound stopper. And panty hose stopped leaches dead in their tracks. They couldn't attatch through the material.
OK, go ahead with the snide remarks.
I still use Noxzema, and it smells nice when you wipe it off. Great after shave. You don't have to wash it off.

A real man don't shave at all. He just picks up any handy rock, pounds the whiskers back in and bite off the ends from the inside. Just for the record I don't know any real men but I was told that's what they do.
