Can you use any aftermarket wire to expand a dog fence? I'm looking @ getting a used kit on ebay where all the wire has been used, SportDog wants $75 for some extra line (might as well buy new then) but Amazon has line much cheaper: http://www.amazon.com/PetSafe-500-foot-Spool-20-Gauge-Boundary/dp/B0017DGFSA/ref=pd_sbs_k_2

Will extra wire like that work or do you have to use specific wire designed for the model fence your using. Electric newbie here...

No. But as long as you match it up to approximate size, stranded or unstanded, etc., the answer is yes. I've done it.
