I am going to take this one. Tom Burgess G33-40 .270 Win. Whitebird, that rifle is more stunning than deg967's sig line!

5months away, so choices may change or no longer be available. Although if I sell any of these something bad has happened.
W.V.--Nula 7mm08 with a 6x42 Leupold seems appropriate.
Pa.---Pre64 FWT in .308W with a new Leupold 3x scope, Nula .22-250 with a Leupold 6x36, and a Mod94 .32WS wearing irons.
Battue aren't you too ole to be shooting irons???? LMAO! Good Luck tomorrow buddy.
Just saw this and I have two comments: The post above it is the only reason I stopped scrolling and noticed it, and two the Deer had better be close. Bullchit I have seen you crush some 50+ yard crossers with some heat on them! So I know the eye sight is still working for you.

It will depend on where and how I'm hunting that day. Light 7-08 if packing in ,300RUM for open country, or what ever I think might be best for the area I'll be heading to.

Most likely my .257 weatherby(When I get it!), or my .30-378 weatherby.

Thats awesome I watched my FIL shoot a deer with his 30-378, talk about blood shot meat. You could pretty much watch the bullet pass from shoulder to the rump under the skin from the shock wave.

Normally I wouldn't as the .257 would be adequate, but I need to break both of the mentioned rifles in.

I never know until about Oct. or so! Used the 7mm-08 last year. I have a hankering to try the .375 H&H, as I have not shot anything but paper with it yet.

Open country or timber. East or West. Close or far. It doesn't matter.
The .270 is mo better than anything that starts with a 7 and ends with a 57 for sure.

I try to stick with the basics, they do so well. Nothing fancy mind you, just plain jane will get it done with style. You want to see an animal drop right now? Shoot him in the ear hole. BSA MAGA

I'll probably be carrying my M70 FWT/McEDGE in 30-06 or my M700 SPS SS 243.

Probably be using the `lil "mighty mouse" aka a 300 WSM Ruger Frontier.
Although not quite the max load capability for the little bad azz compact, a 168 VLD @ around 2900-50 fps will do just peeechee.

Well I have narrowed it down to two: Remington 700 XCR 7 Mag or Remington 700 XCR 30.06 Might just take both of them to deer camp and then I can flip a coin.

I just got home from the range with a good one that I picked-up a couple weeks ago at a local shop . Its an original 1895 Winchester chambered in .35 WCF . I installed one of the replica Lyman 21 sights from Buffalo Arms until an original can be had and took it to see what it would do. The loads were Horn. 250 rnsp at around 2380 , this is alittle warm and were originally loaded for a Browning replica I had rebored to this caliber but they will do fine for hunting until my next batch is loaded. It shot piont on at 200 and with just a very slight increase in elevation was where it was needed at 300 on the elk target . I am lucky enough to be going on an elk hunt this october in Wyoming and had planned on using a little .358 win. but think it will now be back-up to the 95 . To me nothing carries like an open sighted lever gun , and I think it would be unforgettable to fill my tag with a rifle manufactured just shy of 100 years ago .I have a few open sighted rifle and although I have begun hunting deer around home more often with them as I grow older and my eyes begin to fade I feel the need to get as much out of them as possible while I can. So this deer season the 95 will also see plenty of use although not exclusive .
