Found a Marlin 36 in 30/30, has the carbine length barrel and magazine tube, strange looking forend - fat and then is thin the last two inches or so (never seen one like this up close, on the web yes), plain pistol grip stock (no checkering), has a Weaver scope with post reticle and the square bolt. Very nice condition.

I can't read completely read the markings on the barrel, but it says 36 and the rest is covered on the model marking.

I think it is a 36 C, but looking for any information on the square bolt 36 models.

Thanks

I have a Marlin 36RC Which stands for Regular Carbine. The Regular carbine will have a mag. tube about 1/2" shorter than the barrel. On my barrel it reads Model 36-RC-30-30 ----o-----A
The A designates, made in 1946. If it has the letter B it was made in 1947. They were only made those two years.
Under the lever the letter C is before the serial# Hope this helps! BG
