I have had neck surgery and have been released by my doctors.
Good news is that I am right handed and right arm is as strong as pre-injury. The bad news is that my left arm is much weaker and will not recover its pre-injury condition. I can hold my bow and draw, but cannot keep my left arm locked. I have been avoiding a crossbow. Anyone have a suggestion as to which bow I should look at in the 45-50 lbs range...I might could do 55 pounds. I have heard about new carbon bows that are really light and which may help too. Any suggestiosn are welcomed. Thanks

Of course not a Dr. Friend, who was very active, had same surgery and his left arm I believe was much weaker. He listened to his PT and Doc and really worked hard at the strengthening exercises.

I think a 40-45 lbs very doable goal by season if all goes well. A number of companies make bows in this range.

In that draw weight there are some good options from several different companies. Don't get too caught up on the speed. Shoot a heavy enough arrow that you get plenty of penetration and watch the distance that you fling them and you'll be fine. A cut on contact broadhead of the smaller diameter (1") wouldn't hurt either. The first place I'd check is Hoyt and Bowtech, but I'm a little bias.
