I think it got the price because of the "name" associated with it rather than on the merits of the rifle.

I'd go that much for his GF Ali McGraw if she came up for auction, but not his rifle. (Now if it were the pistol and shoulder rig he wore in "Bullit", or the motorcycle he rode in "The Great Escape"....)

All that AND she looks like my grandmother. I'll pass. Yeah that's a steep price for that rifle. (not that I'm any expert, just comparing it to auction numbers) I'd say you're right it's more about the name of the previous owner. I'll stick to my guns about the Mustang, heck the Hudson Wasp or just about any of his bikes would be ok, too.

Did anyone notice what the Springfield 87 or the other guns brought? That one got 3,250.00 plus premiums. seems like that was everyone's "you've got to be kidding" number that day. If you click on the images they list the sales prices of most of them.
