Has anyone shot one of these and if so what are your thoughts?

I have someone that owes me a favor and told me to pick out a bow from Cabelas as he has an in with a rep and gets an at cost price....Only problem is I'm a Mathews guy and they are not a dealer so looking thru the line up of bows Cabelas has that Carnage caught my eye

About a year ago I was in a local shop and the guy working (who I have known for a long time and respect) says, THIS is the bow to shoot. "It" was a Bear bow, top of the line last year and looking good! I told him I didn't want to shoot it as I was very happy with my BT and didn't need any temptations.....................

I shot it. What a nice bow! I could easily have lived with it but thankfully I didn't cave.

I was recently in the market for a new bow and shot the Carnage. Nice bow all things considered, smooth draw, nice valley, firm backwall, fairly quiet, fairly dead in the hand and more then adequate speed. I wasn't really impressed how the bow felt in my hand but that is subjective.

I ended up with the Hoyt Carbon Element which of course Cabelas doesn't carry but my second choice was the Bowtech Invasion which they do carry. Absolutely great bow from what I've heard and seen myself.

Bear bows always seem to be really ugly with some silly afterthoughts to problems that don't exist. They have funky looking cams, goofy cable guards and strange shapes. They are just ugly and I can't like them laugh Flinch

Flinch can't argue with that. You would have to be a few beers short of a six pack to waste your money on that thing.

I shot a new Bear Attack last year, I know it's not the Carnage, but close. The Attach was/is awesome, hard to improve on that, but I hear the Carnage is even better. The only thing; yes, just one thing, that I did not like about the Attack was the hand grip, I ordered a wood grip for it (same as the Truth 2, which is a nice grip) but never got around to getting it picked up from my local bear dealer (it was on back order for a few weeks, and I forgot about it after the deer season). Anyway I ended up selling it to a good friend, and he is totally in love with it, and the hand grip doesn't bother him eiher.

I went back to shooting a Hoyt again, Maxxis 31. It just feels natural to me. But I would not hesitate to go back to a Bear if they get the hand grip figured out, or I can put on the wood grip from the Truth 2. I would speculate that the Carnage can and does compete with the flagship bows of the BIG 3, just doesn't get the advertising like those other good bows.
