Round nose or spitzer? Could put some plywood in the middle and call it a partition...that would do the trick.

Sure, why not? The last DWM killed in the line of duty here in Colorado was killed by a round bale falling off a truck(according to my old boss, I never saw a report). Imagine the same can happen to him.

Probalably not with a "bail" of hay, but maybe a round bale...

Do you think that you could kill a elk with a bail O hay? Probably if you could throw it fast enough but you better get him close because the ballistic coefficent on those things are horrible.
Whatever a 7x57 can do a 270 can do better.

Be one heck of a "potato" gun though.

My pet load for a 1 ton bale out of a 30 foot barrel is 4000 pounds of IMR 4831, seated .002" off the lands. Groups pretty well.

I was thinking the classic fluid or starter fluid propulsion. Might get more of a "flaming arrow" affect.

1,500 lbs or so traveling at 30-40 mph could probably do the job. I assume we have a picture coming soon??

I've seen angus cows eat the bottom cornor out of a stack just to have one fall and snap their neck,so I would guess a a elk could get the same result.

He was a good Man.
Colorado Division of District Wildlife Manager Philip Mason was killed when a 1,000 pound rolled bail of hay, fell on him while it was being loaded into a truck. This occurred in the Gunnison State Wildlife Area.
The incident occurred at approximately 1800 hours, but was not discovered until almost 2230 hours. Manager Mason was the most senior wildlife officer in the state, and had been with employed the Colorado Department of Natural Resources - Wildlife Division for 38 years.
He is survived by his wife and two children

I saw the title "round bail" and thought someone must have been arrested. Did anyone ever get to the bottom of the reason for this post?
