Set out my new trail cam and got a buck and a doe on the first night! Uncle Dusty wants to know why their eye were shining. Set out my new trail cam and got a buck and a doe on the first night!

Must be a boy thing. My son used his crayons to color the wall of his bedroom 2 days after I painted it. Apparently didn't like the color.

Holy cow this is good!

Uncle Dusty wants to know why their eye were shining. They were hitting the Sprite pretty hard before we went outside.

Those are great tom, you're going to like that cam. Ok, well we went to the cabin to do some mowing. Things were looking pretty shaggy. We fired up the mower and the weed whackers and tore into it. Much better. We also mowed a trail loop behind (north) of the cabin which involed some chainsaw work and some new bypass routes, it wasn't easy. We bassically filled the better part of saturday with mowing, trimming and sawing. But we did do some trail riding and we found some blueberries. The blueberry hunting is really tough this year, nothing like last year but we are confident that with a little trail riding and searching we can find enough. We're thinking next weekend might be the latest we should wait though, there aren't many green berries out there at all, it seens they are all blue. Choke cherries are looking good, so maybe we will do ok on them this year. We did some minnow trapping too but we don't know what these things are. Those are mud minnow. At least that's what we have always called them. They're very tough, good for jigging with because it seems to be rough on the minners when jigging.
I hook them through the mouth, out the gill plate, and then stick behind the head.

A bit of the little things that are always around us. Ugly duck. Red dragon fly. Frog Some kind of berries that I've seen in the woods my whole life but I have no idea what they are.

We did some plinking last night. Lil man and the youth stainless marlin rimfire. Runs with scissors with the savage 17HMR. Just a bit of info here. The 20 grain 17HMR will poke clean through an 1/8" plate on a rimfire dinger/spinner target. See the deer fly perched by my rear sight on the high standard double 9? In the other side of the fire ring the boy readies the bug fogger. Blueberry pancakes at the cabin this morning and.. That's all he wrote.

I would love to go riding and berry picking this weekend but I got the WE Fest thing going on. Sounds like dad is interested though. Stayed at the lake lastnight with mom, dad, and Kenna. We went on a pontoon ride with dad's fishing partner, his wife and grandaughter. Then dad grilled these huge tbone steaks. Sorry I didn't take any pictures of them.
