I normally hunt in Crosby ND, but to much water.. So was thinken of trying SE Montana... I looked up some outfitters kinda spendy, looks like a lot of them are more trout places then just hunting...I emailed a couple places have not heard back yet from them... I looked up public land looks like a lot is private.. Just looking for a place to hunt.. Anybody know any ranchers that could help me out, or anybody have buddies that have hunted out there..

Thanks for any advice...

I think you would be better off trying northeast montana vs. the southeast. I live in southeast montana and although there are pheasant here there are not big numbers. More just pockets of them. But if you are looking for grouse we sure have quite a few of them around.
