I have several shop tools with duel voltage single phase motors that were wired for 220. How do I wire them back to 110? It sure would be nice to have a decent drill press and such.

I'm not an electrician, and didn't sleep at a Holiday Inn in the last year.

On the pecker head (or nosebag, or junction box, depending on where you are), there should be a wiring diagram showing which leads connect for high voltage and which leads connect for low voltage. Sometimes this is on the outside of the cover, sometimes on the motor, sometimes inside the cover.

I'm an electrician and BTB375 is correct. open the wireing compartment and follow the diagram. you'll probably just have to change a couple of splices or terminal connections. all the wires should be numbered.

Well I did it. The instructions were right there and I followed them. Replaced the plug with a standard three prong, plugged it in and it works. Just waiting for the Guy Police to take away my man license.

You don't lose your man license if the directions come from the 'fire!

Ya didn't have to tell everybody you followed the instructions.
OTOH you would be surprised at the number of people who can't follow directions.
No sparks or smoke and it works means a job well done grin
