Well, as of today, I am unemployed. We lost our biggest contract, we had it for over 10 years. So, myself, 4 tech's, and the receptionist babe are done. I will collect unemployment and flie for my social security. Retirement can't be all bad---

Sorry to hear of the contract loss, and for the employment of your people.. I'll never be able to fully retire - so after the move to SD you might see me greeting at Walmart..

I'm in the same boat so I feel for you. Don't despair though. There's always that closed door/open window thing. Rather than taking UI and doing the poor me thing, I've opened an LLC and I'm working on a proposal for a potential client this morning. I'm actually having lunch with the guy who laid me off today. Seems they are looking for some help with a few things. Funny how that works, isn't it?
SCREW BO and everyone who's behind him. I'm not going to let someone else dictate my circumstances. I suggest find your passion and do the same. Good luck to you.
They say everything happens for a reason. For me that reason is usually because I've made some bad decisions that I need to pay for.

The difference is it is work I want to do not work someone els tells me I have to do and it pays about a quarter of what I made.

I was looking forward to retirement, and enjoying the good life, until the reality of it all dawned on me. I'm probably going to keep on working for some time. I can get by on SS and investments (if another yesterday does not slap the markets), but to have toys, I gotta work. Best of luck!

Best of luck to you. It is too bad this is happening to so many people.

I got laid-off from a job of 16 years, back in January.
I start a new job Monday. It took awhile to find something in this market, and it's a quite a step backwards, but something is better than nothing, so I won't fuss.

I'll be ok. My wife and I have been debt free for some time, managed to save a little. She was recently downsized from her job after 38 years.
I will find something to keep busy with.
Ya gotta have a reason to get up wevery morning
Thanks all

Sorry to hear this. You'll land on your feet. I hope you can enjoy your retirement. Can you tell us more about the "receptionist babe?"

I'm sorry to hear that.
I'm still in the same boat. Got laid off back in March.
Looking to start my own business...
Best wishes to you!
Ed
