340's.... Thats over spined by the book. I fought with my pro about that as I purchased them for another bow that was over #70, but I never ran it that high (High Country). This rig (Hoyt) shoots them very well and I have a couple dozen so I just run em outa both bows. They weigh in finished at about 420gr IIRC. They've been minute of elk twice, so no complaints.. BT53

Blacktail, I shoot the ICS camo 340 at 29" with 100 gr muzzy's out of my Q2XL and will use the same arrow for my new Switchback this Elk season. Last season, I used Slick Tricks on ICS 400's that also shoot very well. My bows are set at 70# so I think the 340 is the right spine.
I shot some 400's at technohunt one day to see if there was a realistic speed gain. There was only a couple of feet gained. I've also gained some speed by switching to the lighter BlaZer vanes on the 340's. These things fly like darts, so I will continue to use them. Season starts in about 2 weeks! BT53

I have Blazers on the camo shafts and they do fly like darts. The bow season in AZ starts Sept. 16 thru the 29. Nice thing about the seasons here is you can hunt deer right up to the elk season and also after the Elk season.
RUSKY: Yeah, our seasons are similar. We hunt deer and elk together (statewide) and then have a late blacktail season during the rut here near home. I get to hunt mulies near Klamath Falls opening weekend, then take a full week for elk in the eastern part of the state. I'd love to hunt your state for elk sometime. It's a top pick. However I was in Pheonix a while ago and I believe the temperature was 109!! They had to winch me off the aircraft!!! Wow! The BlaZers are a new addition for me. A buddy twisted my arm and gave me enough for 2 arrows - that was all in took. Good luck on your hunts. BT53
