I was wondering about the differences if any among these scopes, in the typical 3-9 x 42 size. Does anyone have any experience here?

I've had the Kahles and AV in 3-10x42. Personally I prefer the Kahles. I sold the AV and bought another Kahles. My Z3 is a 4-12x50 so I can't comment. They are very close optically and eye relief was similar. When I would compare them at dark, there was very little difference. Something about the Kahles just seemed to stand out. Image "popped" a little more at first glance. Both are good scopes and you'd be hard pressed to make a bad choice.

Both are great scopes, but you might want to consider Swarovski vs Kahles customer service. Seems Kahles not as stable in this dept.

The KX was an economy 1" scope(if one can call a Kahles an economy scope) ..it differed from the AH by having a little more eye relief and a wire reticle in lieu of an etched reticle. The best 1" tube Kahles has/had is the CL which are optically a better scope then the AV (I don't have a Z3 to compare it to). It has an etched reticle and is built like a tank.

I have 2 CL'S & 2 AH's all 3x9 42mm love all of them but as I have been told many times the CL'S are the best 1 inch scopes that have ever been made.
