Well last weekend the_shootist and I were out and did some bench work with my CZ. 50 yd groups saw him shoot 1/2" groups with both 270 and 300 gr loads. Their impact was about 1" apart. Bear in mind that was with express sites. That boy can shoot and so does the rifle. I am content with my group but I think 1.5" combined 270 and 300 is the best I can do. Plenty good enough for game, and unlike him, I do not consider it a bench rifle. Neither does my shoulder. Randy

Mine loved the 300gr Swift A-Frames. Give them a try. Actually, there isn't a bullet I tried in it that I wouldn't feel comfortable shooting game with.

The_shootist is a pretty lucky shooter betimes. But that is a purty nice shootin' iron.

I have one of those and my groups are more in line with yours, however that rifle is better on a bench than my old Win mod 70 30-06, or a Ruger #1 30-06. I guess it's the size and weight but to me it's a pussycat.
A couple of years ago I was at the public range in Ouachita Parish Louisiana shooting it and offered a couple of guys the chance to try it out, and they backed out saying recoil would be too much. I could see their little lightweight small calibers were really beating them..
This is actually one of the most pleasant guns to shoot that I have, the other a 9.3x57 Husqvarna Mod 46.

Randy's gives you a definite shove, but there is no sharpness to it. I enjoyed shooting the thing! I could see me with one for fun, but too much money and no need for the game I shoot. And I prefer 40 calibre plus in the big bore category, but his is very nice to shoot, and it shoots micely to boot.

They are REALLY nice guns. If you put Weisner bottom metal on yours, it will then hold either 5 or 6 down, and does not protrude more than about 1/2 inch down from the stock

If after 5 I am in need of more, my behind is likely already in the fire. I understand the concept but doubt I am able to benefit from the extra shots. I have never shot more than three at anything yet and hope I never have to.

Needed all five 416 Rigby rounds on a torqued off and wounded Cap buff once in '06. Rare, but it happens.

You might want to try opening up one of your 30/06's to 9.3x62 or even 68 if the action is long enough. Probably would be all a hunter would need, nowadays.

I don't believe my Ruger #1RSI wil handle anything larger than .35 cal but the Hawkeye would. I'll have to ponder that and save up my allowance.

Official capacity was 5 but it would fit a sixth without binding at all. Those of you with this gun should try it.

Good to know, but mine in 416 Rigby only held three down of that FAT monster case, thusly the Weisner bottom metal very much needed on my DGR. Especially since I was using it to follow up clients wounded stuff. Sometimes a hunt can turn into more of a war.......

Safari: Do you hot load your Rigby or keep it near 416 Rem Mag levels? It is my understanding that the 416 Rigby, especially in a CZ, can handle much higher velocities/loadings.

Back out today and shot from the sticks and offhand. A much friendlier rifle when not shot from the bench. Offhand at pizza box so no aim point other than middle of the box saw 4" roughly circular group in the middle of the box. That was with 300gr at 2200 ft/sec. I need to shoot more as I realise 4" at 50 yds is more pattern than group, but better groups will come with more trigger time. My 257 Roberts seemed pretty minimal recoil and blast after that. Or from the 'gentle' reproofs of an older brother. BTW, I'll train that rifle to shoot for ya.

Yeah, in the C and perhaps others it can be souped up some. I load mine to near 416WBY velocities. My 350gr TSX loads going 2750 and my 400gr loads runnin 2500+ a little. Kills at one end, maims at the other!
