While I may not be as well rounded of a hunter as most here and limit myself to whitetail on down my 3 gun battery consist of a .22lr, a .243 and a 12ga. That's what I'm at now, sold off everything else BY CHOICE. I'm nuts I know. If I deside on elk or bear in the future I'll pick up a 7mm-08 or .308 barrel for the Savage but no plans as of yet. Africa, Canada or Alaska not in my future. I do have a .22-250 barrel for the Savage but don't really think it will ever go back on.

Model 70 416 Remington CZ 550 9.3x62 Not sure of platform 7x57
I already have a 22-250 for the varmints
I like the classics. they go better with my double shotguns. 416 rem may not be on a classic but seems more practical than the Rigby Not too shabby but I might replace the 9.3 or the 7x57 for a super flat shooting one. Unless you do not plan on hunting that style.

Any of the rifle hunting that I do now could be accomplished quite well with:
Ruger M77/22 in 22LR
Remington M700 Varmint Special in 223 or 22-250
Winchester M70 Featherweight in 30-06

My Florida three gun would be a Marlin 1894S .44 Mag Marlin 336Y .30-30 Remington 700 CDL .30/06
or
Savage 170 .30-30 Mannlicher-Schoenauer M1908 in 8x57 Mauser Mannlicher-Schoenauer M1952 in .270 Win.
Or......... hell, I can put together a number of different ones, that would all work just fine down here.

3 guns only:
22lr Ruger 10/22 12 g. Remington 1100 270 Win. Weatherby Ultralight (guns I have)
rifles only:
223 30/06 375 H&H (makes the most sense)
personal wants in 3 rifle battery
270 winchester on a Pre 64 Model 70 custom (7-7 1/4lbs all up) 30/06 springfield on a NULA (23" barrel) 375 H&H on a Whitworth (with pretty wood)
lots of money and time to hunt with
JOC was right. The 270 Winchester on a Model 70 is a great combination as is the 30/06 and 375 H&H

Since they are in the safe now, keep trying to convince myself I don't need any more:
7mm-08 - Kimber - Deer, etc. 6.5x284 - Sako custom for longer ranges and those man eating varmints 338 WM - Kimber all weather - for anything that can bite back

I agree with STA on the calibers (cf) .223 7mm-08 and 300 wsm.
My personal choices that I'm satisfied with because they all shoot sub moa with factory ammo and are lighweight are.
.223 Weatherby Super predatormaster 7mm-08 Weatherby Super predatormaster 300 wsm HS Precision PHL (My favorite)
For the money imo, you can beat Tikka's though
