Ok, this is a first for me to post photos, but here it is - the result of 4 years search, in a fashion I didn't expect. Enter #373XXX, complete with Bausch & Lomb scope, and mount. In very good condition overall, I can'twait to shoot, buT wanted to show it off, and try to post pics.

Nice gun.
That would be a T
Interesting mount. Looks like some kind of Stith knock off in the back and a D&T of some sort in the front.
What the heck is that thing?

That is a Stith Master Mount. Required nonstandard holes in the barrel ring unfortunately. Looks pretty nice settin' up there though.
Is the butt stock cut or sumpin?

Butt stock is not cut, but I had to remove a literally rotten rubber pad. Needed to put something on it until I can locate an original.
The mount was apparently installed a very long time ago. I expect this was the weapon of a wealthy rancher and the heirs sold it off to Carter's Country as an ordinary rifle, not a collectors' item. When new, that scope and mount would probably have cost more than the rifle.
It wasn't what I was looking for, but sure is nice.

Looks like a nice hunter. Model T's are very desirable. I will say that it will be quite a task to locate an "original" pad for it.

Is the serial number visible on the butt stock surface under the pad?? That will tell if it's been cut or not.

well congrats, Ts are desirable guns, as the B&L mounts and scopes that I have owned are very nice set-ups... a bit complicated and heavy but worth it for the quality.
At some point in this guns life it wore a receiver sight as well. It would have been a Redfield 102 I believe. On the left side of the receiver at the back, those three screw holes are not original. The top two would have mounted the receiver sight. Not sure what the third was for, maybe the original installation did not go so well.

Whoever designed that 102 for 99s for Redfield should have been strangled until he passed out then revived and then strangled some more.

Oh well, what can you say. Back in the day both the tang and receiver mounted aperature sights were considered improvements over the open sights offered by the factory. It is what it is. Nice 99!

I agree with you on the treatment of the idiot who designed the Redfield 102 for the Savage 99! I have a minty 1899CD with a full octagon barrel in 32-40 that somebody d&t for a Redfield 102. The rest of the rifle is minty, high 90% range in every way, except for that damned Redfield 102!
