I've got a Kimber 84 in 257 Roberts on order and have some 100gr BTs and 110gr Accubonds laying around. In searching the fire I have seen lots of input on the 100gr bullets, but little on the 110 Accubonds.
Is anyone using the 110 Accubonds in their 257 Roberts? How have they performed on deer?
Loads, suggestions, BT or Accubond? Will be using for deer size game. Thanks for any input you can give, good or bad.

I know the 110 gave complete penetration on this bear at 70 or so yards. Fired in a 250AI which is the same/same as the Roberts so far as velocity is concerned.

The AB is a lot more bullet(tougher) than the BT, IMO.

Sika deer killed last year with a 25-06 and 110 Accubonds at 230 yds so well within 257 Roberts velocities. Lots of blood shot meat.

I like the 110AB in my little blue 25-284.

Accuracy and bullet performance were good at 3,100fps. Several deer have fallen to it including these two that were the guy's first deer. I thought he was doomed with the blue clothes and blue rifle......

I only recovered one bullet. This one on an angling shot at 175-200yds that hit back in the guts and angled forward through the opposite shoulder. The bullet was a lump just under the hide. 2x expansion and 65% weight retention if memory serves correctly. I'll be shooting them again this year in that rifle, but I'll try the 100gr Scirroco II's in my 257wby.

Sounds like he was a very lucky gentleman to have harvested those deer while handicapped with such obstacles... glad it worked out for him! grin

My 257 Kimber Select really likes the 110 accubonds. Load is 44 gr. h4350 max mag length. = - 2950 fps, .6's to .7's" 3 shot groups all the time.

I prefer the accubonds..The balistic tips tend to explode and can do a lot of meat bloodshooting..but one of the above pictures speaks poorly for the accubonds in that catagory, however he shot that deer with the 25-06 and probably at considerably more velocity than the 257 can generate. I would slow that bullet to 2600 or 2700 an it should work fine.

I tend to slow things down for my deer hunting as I like the meat and don't care for all that jellied up bloodshot carcass. One of the reasons I opt for the bigger bores with tougher bullets such as my 338 or 9.3x62. These calibers with tougher bullets just core out a big hole, leave lots of blood on the ground and you can eat to the bullet hole..they may make 50 or more yards but you can easily follow that kind of a blood trail.

I think either one will work for you. I've used the 100gr bt in three 25-06's and I load them for a friends roberts. They work really well when started at 3000 fps in the roberts. I only tried the accubonds in one 25-06. They shot well but terminal performance was lacking. These were from the first production run and they seemed to be too hard (almost zero expansion on three different deer. In fact I poked four holes in one.)When I get around to using a 25 again I'll give them another try.

Thanks for all the input fellas. Think I'll try the 110s first.

My son killed a 140 lb. dressed wt. cull buck with the accubond in a .257 Roberts. The bullet entered just behind mid shoulder and was recovered just under the skin at the base of the neck in front of opposite shoulder. Deer dropped like he was hit with a ton of bricks and never even kicked. The load was 40.0 grains of H380 and CCI 200 primer. As a side note, this particular rifle will shoot same POI with 100 grain ball. tips loaded with 40.0 grains of IMR 4350. Both of these loads are fairly mild but the gun just don't seem to like a full charge of any powder I have tried so far but will shoot these two loads in approx. 3/4" groups at 100 yds. Hope this helps.

I have used the Nosler 110 AccuBonds in my son's 257 Roberts, Ruger M-77. The Nosler web site said to use the data for the 115 grain bullets. The load I used is 33.5 grains of IMR 4895 with a CCI 200 primer. This past October (2010) we bagged 2 mule deer does at 150 and 160 yards, one shot each. Not a lot of meat damage either. Needless to say we are very pleased with 110 AccuBond.

Glad you brought this question up. Redneck is waiting on a .257 barrel to swap out on one of my Model 70s. And just so happens I've got 100 of the 110 Accubonds waiting to be seated.

I believe the Accubond is by far the better hunting bullet.

I've long found it curious that Nosler makes the best and the worse: BT and PT respectively.

Different strokes for different folks. Down here in the sunshine state, a fast expanding bullet is sometimes required on our smallish deer. I agree that the Partition is a great bullet and one that I have used, but if I can't find a good load with them the BT's work just fine.

Chicks get hotter at closing time for some, but high standards never need a precursor. The PT is the highest of standards, the BT beer goggles.

Brilliant analogy crazy . My point was that BT's have their place.
