215.4# yesterday. Started on the 21st of August at 228.0#-I have cut out junk food, soda pop, almost all meat and dairy. I am hungry most of the time, but my discipline is getting better and I find myself having a surprising amount of energy considering I am consuming ~1000 Kcal a day.
I am pretty encouraged at this point in time.

I am pretty encouraged at this point in time. You are doomed to fail. Cut out all meat? WTF? Are you TRYING to loose muscle and become "little girl" weak?

I am eating spirulena(sp?) and a variety of nuts, which have a lot of protein, as far as I know? Also, I do 30 mile mountain bike rides pretty routinely and 10-12 mile hike once or twice a week, and I don't feel weak as I have plenty of 'reserves' stored up! -If I did this thing for more than a few months, yeah, I agree, it would probably give me some problems. Besides, I don't recall saying this was going to be a permanent diet change for me-no way, as I love meat!!

I am pretty encouraged at this point in time. Just curious, but why have you cut out meats Tim? There is no harm in having reasonable portions of lean meat or even fish for that matter (avoid the oily species)..Chicken, lean ham, beef or even better, venison or other game meats, aren't bad on the calorie front... Google the calories in nuts and I bet weight for weight, they are higher...

Pete, the reason I have cut out meat is partially because of my cholesterol, and partially because the meat I tend to eat is salty and kind of fatty(i.e., hamburgers, etc). I will probably start eating some skinless chicken and maybe some turkey. Also, I can't eat shellfish or fish as I am allergic to that stuff.

#214 this am, so -2 so far.
I was expecting to be close to 200, having just tromped around the Talkeetnas with cmg chasing sheep. Oh well, I'm glad to be fat & have a sheep, vs. being skinny & sheepless: I've heard eating tag soup can make one get fat quite fast!

I started 2 1/2 months before we started the contest at 248 1/2 I only say this just as a reference to how long it has been and how far I've come. I will say it has not been easy but very much worth all of the effort. Start 232 1/4 Week 1 221 Week 2 219 1/4 Week 3 218 1/2 Week 4 217 1/2 Week 5 213 1/4 Week 6 211 1/4 21 and 1/4 lbs to go want to get to 190 and hopefully maintain that weight, just went to the doc this past friday and numbers are great he took me off of cholesterol and triglycerides meds had been on flexarils for lower back, bloodpressure meds of benicar 40mg 12mg HCT, and potassium now down to just 20mg of benicar for bloodpressure. He stated if I lose another 20+ lbs that he will most likely take me off of the 20mg of benicar. This is the first time in 15 years that I am down to only one med and I feel better than I have in years.

Good work, Drycreek! Feels great to shed the weight doesn't it? Getting off some medications has to be a pretty good feeling too.
I'm anxious to see if my blood glucose level goes down due to my weight loss and fewer carbs in my diet when I have my check-up in December. I know that I feel fewer spikes in my blood sugar level through out the day since I've cut back on carb heavy foods.

Something I forgot to add was my A1C numbers were begining to trend high and now they are perfect so I nipped that in the bud real quick.
