It almost sounds like you've had a lot of experience with the old sleds, Mr. Shaw.... Do you have a couple of your own?

I thought the same thing Rooster...I see glimpses of Waylon now and then too. He's still with us.

So.....If anyone had any doubt Dave knew about Polaris sleds, re-read above. You either know your stuff Dave, or are really good at BS'ing.

I never met Waylon, but I have met Dave..... I know he was making "vroom, vroom" noises.

About 10-11 years ago, I was riding my buddies xlt triple, we called it Barney" when it blew the motor. My buddy wasn't feeling well and he offered it to me for the day. Everything was fine until the trail crossed a lake, we all fanned out and I cracked open the throttle Barney just got quiet and coasted to a stop. I checked the kill switch, yep still in the ON position. I knew it was bad when I grabbed the starter rope, gave it a mighty tug and the whole sled moved forward a few inches. I felt like crap, but my buddy was cool about it, it was fixed under warranty and I think he still has Barney.

That's why you never ever borrow a sled.

I know about that whole deal too.

So are you saying when I come up to ice fish, I need to buy a sled?

IIRC, I used the XLT when I was up there with you guys and it was running like a top, even with a fat guy on it.

I'd like to know more, but given the calories you spent typing that out, I'll refrain from asking. Printed all that and will give it to the boy. It's his mechanical project. I'll only help if asked.

He's pretty good with motors. he's predisposed to screwing with things that don't need screwing with, but I suppose we all took a little while to learn that.

If the sled breaks down while the sled owner is with you then it don't count.

I scored big today. I've been looking for this ripple profile tin in a plain galvanized finish for the ceiling of the cabin. We've talked about it quite a lot amongst the whole camp group and I think the general consensus is that it would go well with the barn boards on the walls. Hopefully it would help with the lighting in there too.

Well I found some today at a going out of business sale at a lumber yard!!

Nice score Dave! What u think of making some fake beams to cover the seams too.

Actually I can get by with one beam basically over the "kitchen table" from the front wall where you walk in to the interior corner where the wood stove wall meets kitchen wall. About an 11-12 foot beam. We'll select a tree, possibly dead standing (because dry is good) and we'll square 3 sides, top side we'll square deep, sides will be shallow cuts barely enough to square the edges and the bottom or downdard facing side will be left round but peeled.

I got enough tin to cover the ceiling in the main part of the cabin, not the bedrooms yet. (it was on sale but it wasn't free )

How long are those pieces, Dave? Our entire shack is covered in corragated metal on the outside.

I took an on the spot guestimation on what I bought yesterday, aiming to cover the ceiling in the living room and kitchen areas (if we call them that?)

I sure would like to cover the bedrooms as well, with the barn boards too, that would be great. (someday)
