How similar are the innards and design of the Hagn v Dakota 10? Does the Dakota have a forearm hanger on the barrel or is it part of the action? What it the weight of the Dakota for 270/30-06? The Hagn is about 2 lbs.

I got to look over a Dakota 10 in 257 Roberts a year or so ago. Pretty nice, lightweight. It was in the 5K range as I recall. It had some of the extras, CCH as I recall. I liked it a lot. The Dakota 10 catalogue does not show a hanger like the Ruger. If that helps. http://www.digitaleditiononline.com/publication/?i=56804

There is no accounting for taste.
Experience is a great thing as long as one survives it.
Generally, there ain't a lot that separates the two however, Barely making it is a whole lot more satisfying than barely not making it.

I don't think the inards are alike at all one with hammer one without, both are sweet if money was not a thought the hagn would get the nod.

This is no help at all, but I have heard the Dakota is a wonderful example of modern manufacturing, and the Hagn is perhaps the best example of old world, top line craftsmanship.
Anybody who seriously concerns themselves with the adequacy of a Big 7mm for anything we hunt here short of brown bear, is a dufus. They are mostly making shidt up. Crunch! Nite-nite!

If money were not an issue, I might own a few of M/H and Dakota's, and a sprinkling of fine custom Rugers I like your way of thanking!

Thanks so much. All are varmint calibers. But, it was from working lots of overtime, and 2 part time jobs. Sometimes not so much fun. But, I really like the rifles.

Mudhen If I listened to my knees, I'd of had two stainless jobs by now. I am kind of fond of that crunching sound when I walk. My tastses in single shots run a fair bit south of the price of those rifles, but they are pretty for sure. Randy

Left to right: .220 Swift / .220 Swift / .22-250 / .223 / .204 Ruger There's a "beater" .223 ( not pictured ) in the truck. It all started when we went by the Dakota factory during one of our prairie dog trips out west. They gave us a grand tour, took us across the street and let us shoot a recently completed, engraved .22 LR Dakota model 10 ( that probably cost more than my truck ), and later, let me personally pick out the wood for 3 of them. Mark Blote, of First Stop Guns, in Rapid City, made me deals on a couple of other ones. Funny thing is, I've never had any trouble getting one to shoot. And, they have always treated me well.
