I think RSIs use an "A" weight barrel.

I think a bit heavier barrel would be an improvement on the #1 RSI in any caliber. It would improve balance and aiming characteristics, and maybe accuracy (wandering zero and/or heat sensitivity). It wouldn't have to be crazy heavy, just a bit heavier - like the difference between a "#1 contour" and a "#2 contour." Just a thought. Weatherby went from a #1 contour in the 30-06 Mk-V ultralight to a #2 contour in the same rifle chambered for 338-06.

If memory serves me correctly(?) Ruger did the 77 RSI in .358 Win in the 90's, a non-catalog item (also did 7mm-08 then, and maybe one other chambering), so pershaps there is room for the .358 Win in the RSI #1?

hmmm, now not to try and steal this thread, but....what if they did a run of #3's, say in: .25-35; 6.5x55mm (I use 3 6.5x54MS's but the Swede would be more marketable); .308 WCF (as it is so common/popular) or .30-40 Krag; .338 Federal/.358 Win and ?

VA- the 9.3 would be potent no doubt, and a handy hammer smile

O45- the Max would be neat, having shot the little brother in a rifle, the Max would really be something - very efficient! Could sling 180s well - even spire points. Heavy LBT? Interesting!

Obear- are your 6.5s in M-S rifles?

If Ruger were so inclined they could do a ltd. run in various calibers/configs, a few a year. How hard is it to just change a reamer and then stamp the bbl?

Bet they could sell runs of 100 pretty quickly.

65BR - Yes, the 6.5x54mm Mannlicher-Schoenauer irons I use are the Model 1903 fullstock carbines, my pride n' joys. I use to 'accummulate' M-S carbines/rifles, but switched gears 6+ years ago, yet retained the Model 1903's. Took my first caribou in Alaska with one of 'em, back in '89, using early 1950's CIL Dominion 160 gr RNSP factory ammo - worked just fine.
There is so much history of the 6.5x54mm during the beginning of the 1900's...

Nice - the M-S are slick handy well built rifles, always hoped to have one but never yet.

They are many rifle aficionados envy.

I am sure most/all of Alaskan game has been taken many times over w/an '03 in 6.5MS, an underated overachiever w/those high penetrating missiles...156-160s at sedate speeds. Proven deadly.

Glad you have been able to enjoy them.

I think the 6.5 M-S would sell well in an RSI.
