It sure feels like it, and it's fantastic!

I am starting to worry about my deer cams. That big forest fire is about 2.5 miles north of my most northern camera and 3.5 miles north of deer camp. Hope it stays north as a friend lives in a cabin a mile north east of camp. It is heading to an area where we like to camp and fish. They have the roads closed in that area and we could not get to camp now if we wanted. It is a waiting game now.

TJAY, as strange as it may sound we're getting the ash clouds and smell from the fires here in Central WI today.

I just talked to my wife, who is in Wausau, WI today. She said she could smell smoke as soon as she got to Throp. For everyone but Bill...that's about an hour west of Wausau.

I hope your stuff is OK TJAY, and your pal's cabin.

Update: The smoke smell has reached Milwaukee. Local news just reported that the size of the MN fires has quadruppled since this AM. Now up to over 60K acres.

Tom, your daughter probably saw ash from the fire, not snow.

Here in Green Bay today the smoke was as thick as if the fire was just outside of town. The smell of smoke was actually strong inside our office this morning.Local fire departments were getting calls people thought they had electrical fires in the walls of the house do to the strong smoke odor.

Just heard on the news here that is is over 100,000 acres. KSTP just had some film from the helo. There sure were a lot of flames. Heard a fire guy saying it would get put out by snow or heavy rain. They have not even had a chance to put any firelines up yet as it is moving to fast.

my gosh that's terrible. I'm looking for news that might show a map of the fire path.

looks just east of ely in the lake one, lake two area basically. Lot of cabins in that area I think?

Nah, she claims it was on the news. I try not to watch the news so I didn't hear it. I called my dad and he said it was 65*F and sunny. No snow.

Big fire in the BWCA. The high winds yesterday really stired it up.

Oh Crap is right. Very good family friends have a cabin in that range. Theirs is near the Clara Lake.

Wow, some premo moose habitat, lots of moose in that area.

What a shame.

Best moose area in Minnesota I think. At least it was.

It will become even better eventually, but it will take a while.

I hadn't heard anything about it either, but that thing has been fixing for a burn since 2000 or so when they had the big blow down.
