I'm looking for a bore guide for a Winchester 1885 7mm WSM. I haven't had much luck and was wondering if anyone had any ideas where to look for one. Thanks... Chuck

A bore guide for a falling block single shot is tricky, because of the lack of a receiver raceway to support and hold it concentric, as with a bolt action.
I have made bore or rod guides for BPCR caliber 1885s using a cartridge case as the basis, with a Delrin liner. Many shooters just use a bored out cartridge case as a guide. You could take a fired case and size the neck down to slightly under bore diameter. One problem you will have with a WSM is that the fat case will just clear the dropped breech block, so you can't have a guide with the rear portion much larger than the diameter of the chamber. All of this is a bit hard to explain.
If I were you, I would take a 7mm WSM case, preferably fired, cut the head off, and turn a piece of Delrin to fit inside it, making a hole through it less than bore diameter but bigger than the rod diameter. For that matter a cartridge shaped guide could be made entirely of Delrin, with a sort of button sticking out the back to grab hold of with your fingers. Another option that might work, would be to run the front portion of a larger case like a conventional belted magnum into a 7mm WSM die as far as it will go. The remaining rear portion would stick out of the rear of the chamber. There still might be a problem with it clearing the breech block.

It might be possible to find something here that you could modify to fit your application. Though it states it has been discontinued you could give them a call to see what you might prospect.

I appreciate the input and help. I called Possum Hollow, I think they make these boreguides for Sinclair and they said they would make me one with a build in solvent port and mail it to my house for $21, make and ship it that day. Seemed like really good gun minded people. thier number is (260)782-0735 Chuck
