I have some rl25 left over from a 300 roy that I sold. Has anyone tried it in a 270 wsm and what was your consensus of it? Prefer to hear about reports from 140-150 gr. bullets as that is what I like to use in the 270 bore.

rrogers,
I tried it and found it to be a touch slow for the cart. The 4350s, R22, and R17 beat it in terms of MVs. That said, it will work just fine and may be a real winner in your rig. Alliant has some load data for 25 in the 270WSM on their site.
Good Luck

That is kind of what I suspected. How far below the others is it really in terms of velocity? If it is only 50-100fps I would still play with it and see how it does accuracy wise for a hunting load. If it is much lower i guess it will just be plinking loads as I dont have anything else that would require such a slow burner. I do load for accuracy first, but I bet that I could find something else that would do just aswell in a more appropriat burn rate. May have to see if I can find some 160gr. partitions locally and play with them and rl25 and see how they do. Thanks for the input.

I like RL 25 in the 270WSM. I am using the 140 Accubond and I am .5 grain under the load Speer lists as max for their 140 grain bullet. Chronograph showed just under 3,200 fps. Very consistent. Fed match primers (not Mag). I think you will like it.

I guess I am just going to have to do some playing with the combo and see how it works in my rifle. Thank you all for commenting on your experiences.

rrogers, I don't have my notes, but IIRC, it wasn't too far behind the others. I had better accuracy in that particular rig with faster powders, the added MVs were a plus. Like I said, it may rock on paper in yours.
Good luck and let us know how it shakes out.
