I am leaving in the morning for South Dakota. I want to shoot up about a thousand Nosler 55 gr Ballistic Tips out of my Heavy Varmint Model 70 in 223 and my Remington 700 Varmint Synthetic. After I get tired of that the Ruger #1 V in 220 Swift will come out and have a little talk with the skittish ones way out yonder. Wish me Luck! (I'm goin in) GWN

Indeed they did! Nothing but Noslers from now on! It was 98 degrees and windy. Perfect conditions for crawling around the dog town. I am rethinking my strategy about leaving the bench at home. My elbows are a little beat up, a small price to pay for the chance to thin out the herd however. GWN

GWN, where do you go in SD? Is it by chance in the Eagle Butte, Gettysburg area? I shot some dogs and a coyote south of Eagle Butte monday. Thought they were awful skittish for labor day weekend.

Pronghorn, I hunt on the Standing Rock Indian Reservation west of Mobridge. I hate to get much more specific than that because I hear enough shooting the way it is. The town I was in had been shot by two other groups this summer and it was my second time this summer so the dogs were VERY skittish. I managed to go through several hundred rounds per day but I was out all day from sunup to sundown. I heard coyotes every night. (slept in the truck) The ground was covered with those little .17 rimfire cases. It might be fun to try one! GWN
