Saw that in the other thread. What do you think is the take-away message from that?

don't get yer gun soaking wet? heh

I don't know how realistic it would be to get enough water inside. I suppose if it was raining and the holster you were using really exposed the gun or you went into the drink! Then temps went down to freezing.

I've had that happen but not nearly as extreme.

I think he was trying to say the revolver doesn't always go bang.

water and freezing temps will foul any gun. Point there, don't get it wet and then let it freeze. I'd think that would be my conclusion before I'd do any testing... and it would eliminate the need for tests, simply by coming to a conclusion.

Perhaps try that test again treating the revolver in a prudent manner such as if one's life depended on it's proper operation. wink

I don't know if the glock would have worked either, no live fire test. If that striker was pushing a bunch of ice or slush ahead of it, there is no saying if it would have lit the fire in a live round.

True, but...have you ever gotten wet in the woods when it rains? Did you try to stay dry but still fail?

I don't have to do an experiment to know that I am colder when it is wet, but it is a bit trite to simply suggest 'don't get wet'. To liken it to clothing, I would rather know that a wool jacket will keep me warmer than a down when I am wet. I still try like hell to stay dry, but sometimes that doesn't work. It is good to know if your gear will work under adverse conditions, don't you think?
