A quick trip to the woods to check my trail cam today.

I have 25 pictures of this guy....so I guess I'm done checking my trail cam until the season starts.

as some of you already know, Kendra got her first big game animal today! she took a HUGE doe antelope at 220 yards with her .243 after we stalked up a group. we saw tons of bucks, but alas no tags for horns.

It works good. Usually there is four of us every year that go on this trip and it is roomy inside with all of us and some gear. Majority of the gear stays under the tarp section that we build.

How's the Troof Cam treating you Tom? I've been getting 1+ seasons out of one set of batteries per unit & that is a ton of pictures.

All I've got lately is coons on mine. I'm waiting for more of the fields to get harvested so the venisons move around more.

Remember the Troof Cam don't lie!

From the time posted on the camera that big fella is already nocturnal.

So far I like it Scott. I've taken easily 1000 pictures. I had a bad SD card in the one in my yard but it wasn't the camera's fault. I think that's how I lost the pictures from our family trip over Labor Day weekend. I think it was the same card.

Have you used the "video" mode?

He could be Stan. That is part of the problem with the cams, you see bucks you might never lay eyes on durring hunting season.

Nice camp. How long is the boat ride to get to it?

They usually are, that's how they get big.

Thank god for timber goat lust, and all we can do is cross our fingers that the rut lands in our season because love blindness is the only way we'll see those smart bucks during shooting hours grin

Great pictures Tom I'd be very excited if I was getting a decent buck like that in my cam.

Ryan and Kendra great job on the lopes, and I'm pretty happy you are representing camp chickenbuck out there too! grin

I uploaded some weekend pictures last night, I'll see about posting them this morning sometime.

I'm staying home from work today. It sure feels like I have pneumonia again. I've had a fever since Friday and I'm coughing up brown crud....yuck. Headed to the doc at noon today.

I got 2 and she got 1, she still has 1 tag so we might go back in a couple weeks again. the two in the pic we got at the same time, hers is the one on the right.

How was the Chickenbuck weekend? I'm sorry I missed it, but now I'm kinda glad I did. I would have been miserable up there.

I did go for a ride with my dad and Jack. I promised Jack a wheeler ride so we headed up to where I have my trail cam. He and my dad rode while I walked in to change the card. I had about a 1/2 mile walk and it damn near killed me.

Did manage to swat on partridge with the shotgun and missed on with the Buckmark. I didn't have beer bottle. grin

Yuck is right, thanks for sharing. sick Good Luck at the docs.

Sunday was incredible here. Blue skies, sunny and temps in the high 60's. The rest of the week is pretty much the same.

Got the fall projects done this weekend too. Fleet Farm has a big tire sale going so I special odered (They don't stock my size) 4 new tires for the Edge.

Temps were too warm for my liking. It was 80 here yesterday. More of the same for this week. This is October. I guess that's a sign to get my fall yard and house work done because we know the bottoms going to fall out of these temps any day now....I hope.

Saturday morning we tackled the food plot efforts.

[Linked Image]

We put in around 80-100 pounds of oats which was cheap and will hopefully pop up this fall yet. We also put in a clover blend wildlife plot seed by frigid forage. I can't remember exactly what was in there but it must have been around 5 different clovers, some rye and rape (canola pretty much).

This is all by Pam's stand. I plan on extending this plot opening towards Dusty's stand on the north end eventually which would make it a boomerang shaped plot.

Missy and Brad.

Brad is a great guy and we enjoyed his company very much. We hope to see him up at camp more often in the future.

Fall colors.

Bonfire back at camp.

Some smart talk happening here I'm certain.. grin

My oldest baby, she actually made it out to camp with here mustang so the road is definitely better than past seasons.

Some firewood cutting Sunday morning

And it looks like that's all that loaded for pictures last night. Our internet is slow at home so I queue up the pics and let them load but it takes the better part of the night to do it and some just don't make it.

It was a great weekend with lots of good food, great company and good times as usual.
