Checking to see if anyone else has ever had a good/great Marlin that got away. Me, I bought a Marlin 1894 SS laminated stock with the 16" barrel that they made a few years back. They made 250 or 350 in each caliber, 357,41,45, and 44. Well, I bought one in 41, then had the opportunity to buy a set of four with matching serial numbers, but had to trade the 41 back to the dealer to afford the others. Wish I had that one back cause I'm afraid to shoot any of the others.

I found one of the stainless .357 16" barreled guns a couple of years ago used. I put a Williams receiver sight on mine. Apparently they are quite valuable due to the rarity.

Thanks for the heads up on the one for sale, but I am hooked on those dog-gone colts now, so I never have any money to spare.

The short SS ones have become quite valuable. I wish I would have bought several sets for sure. There was a dealer here in Iowa who had eight or nine sets with the same serial number on all 4 calibers. Makes me wonder if I should call him to see if he still has some left....

I passed on one of those 41's, I'd already missed the 357 and have been unable to locate one since then. I did score a 44 though, it's a keeper.

I missed an original 1895 in 45-90 with a 1/2 octagon 30" barrel by one day years ago !!!!! that one still haunts me !! Don

If any of you are interested I have an 1894FG that should be coming up for sale soon. Even have the box.

Missed out on the 357 as well, but also scored the 44. Still in the safe.

The SS/lam 357 is a catalog item now, but with the curved pistol grip.

Back in the early 80's I acquired a nice Marlin 444, hunted with it a bit then had a stunned moment and sold it in 1992.
Realized my dumbazz moment too late.......

I had a 1894PG pistol grip 44mg. Sold it to free up some money to take a trip. I didn't know how rare they were.

Had a 1980's 1894 in 44 mag that I sorely missed. Took a long time of searching for a replacement but, finally stumbled upon an 1894C in 357 Mag. I jumped on it and I like the 357 mag better than the 44 mag version. The 357 has Ballard rifling and shoots lead great. My old 44 had microgroove and was finicky when it came to ammo.

I had a .444 that I had about $175.00 in and I traded it for a really nice 870 Magnum. It was very accurate and nice looking. I wish I still had it. I also had a 336 in .44 magnum and a 1st year 1895 that I sold off. I miss them too.

I passed up a Model 39D at a gun show a few months ago. It was maybe 95-98% condition and looked great. At the time I had the hots for an 1894 in 44 mag, as I have fantasies about hog hunting. I was afraid buying the 22 would keep me from being able to buy the 44. I have since acquired the 44 and didn't have to buy it new, so it was worth the money.

Later, I found out how few 39Ds were made...

I could have had the 39D for $300. DOH!!!

Some think I overpaid for the 39D, but its condition, though imperfect, really warrants it, I feel. And I just had to have the shorter-barreled model (just about like the Winchester '94 my dad used to get his annual buck). They were only made 1971-1973 IIRC, so it should hold its value, if not abused.

When I found the 336 at a gun show, I immediately traded for a Browning SA-22, straight across. The Browning had not attached itself to me, like the Marlin lever gun, which just feels right. So I slightly overpaid for this one, but it didn't matter one bit. It is in brand-new condition, as delivered w/ factory scope and mounts, and happened to be built in the same year as my 39D. So it would be foolish of me to ever breakup this Marlin pair. Though I regret having sold a Kimber .22 and a number of Colts. Sorry to get a bit off topic.

I had a brand new 336 I saved for and bought (well, my dad bought it for me since I was a teenager) in the 80s.

Had a case of the stupids in college and sold it. Can't remember what I used the money for.

Many years ago I looked over a nice 1895 in .33wcf & thought what an odd gun & walked away
Since then .33 has become one of my fav calibers.
I had a number Wins in that caliber but let them go only keeping a very nice rifle (cresent butt & full mag) shooter.
