peep sight on an M1 Carbine. 1st deer with a scope was a decade later with a Simmons 4-12x40 on a BRNO ZKK 30-06. Still have the scope and rifle, someday that carbine will be in my safe as well.

Bushnell 3-9x32 bubble pack special, only the best for me. In fairness I was only 12.
Will Munny: It's a hell of a thing, killing a man. Take away all he's got and all he's ever gonna have.
The Schofield Kid: Yeah, well, I guess they had it coming.
Will Munny: We all got it coming, kid.

I killed my first several deer with open-sighted rifles. My first scoped rifle had a B&L Balfour 4X in the B&L adjustable mounts. The first animal that I killed with that rifle/scope combination was a Colorado elk on what was primarily a mule deer hunt. The first deer I took was a Texas whitetail later that fall (1964).
Yeah, that scope is still in my gun safe and the mounts are somewhere in my stash of scope parts.

Tasco World Class 2-7x
Used it for a lot of firsts actually--on my first 22 it was used for pigeons, starlings, woodchucks, varmints, whatever. Then it ended up on my first 243 for lots of chucks. Then on my 30-06 for my first few rifle deer.
Sits in a drawer now.

In 1971, a Weaver K4 sitting on a Marlin 30-30. I worked all Summer bagging ice to buy it, and I still have it.
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

Iron sights, Mule deer, with a model 71 Winhester in 348 (was elk hunting). 2nd deer though (whitetail) was with a scoped 25.06AI (Was dumb then and actually believed the bs about it). Don't recall the scope. Actually, the way the question is worded, I'd have to say I've NEVER killed a deer or anything else, WITH A SCOPE.
