I have a old Savage 110 22/250 that the barrel is about shot out. I have been wanting to build a 35 Whelen on a Savage action. My question is since I already have the long action can I just re-barrel and change the bolt head and make this work ?

Bolt heads are the same...no need to change.
Never looked at a 22-250 on a long action, but I assume there is some sort of block in the magazine? Guessing you will need a new mag box, and follower.

Take the magazine block out, screw on a replacement pipe, and away you go. Bolt head is the same. You MIGHT have to order a 30-06 magazine box from Savage, but I bet they'll be happy to sell you one.

I have 3 rifles with ER Shaw barrels and they all shoot very well. No worries.

If i recall rioght the magazine opening in the bottom of the action is not cut to full length for a long action bullet like the 30,06 or the whelen. There is also a "bolt stop" on the bolt right behind the locking lugs. Can it still be converted? Sure just take more time and more money. Matt

Matt I have an older 112 like that, and it will limit your cartridge choices.
