I was wondering if anyone had tried this from Cabela's. Seems like a good idea to vary the insulation according to heat loss. Anyone with real-world exp?

Cabela's new base layer

Mammut and others have done a similar "body mapping" thing with baselayers in the past. I have experience with Polartec Powerdry and while I think it's a great fabric, it's much too thick/heavy for my taste in a baselayer. For more stationary hunting scenarios it would be fine. Powerdry breathes very well and dries quickly as the name implies--among the best wicking properties of any fabric out there in my opinion.

Thanks! I figured it probably wouldn't be great for a lot of heavy walking or climbing, but thought it might be good for the "hike a mile to the glassing spot and then glass for 2 hours" scenario where you would be fairly still for a decent amount of time. Appreciate the feedback!

I would think it'd work fine for that--at least it has a deep zip for venting. Of course a lot depends on how warm you generally run and to some extent your conditioning level. If you try it let us know what you think.
