I've always 14/114 series as well as the heavier 12's and the 16 series in a decent stock.
Of the 14/114 family the Classic is my favorite over the american classic because the finish on the american classic turns me off. Nice stock but the finish is not what I like, if I had one I'd be tempted to strip it and oil finish it.
The factory finish on the american classic looks like the stock wa dipped in a vat of molten milk jug plastic. And I don't care for laser etching on the bolt. Not when the rifle is so close to "classy"
Enough about styling.
You won't be dissapointed in the performance.

The nicest Savage I've seen and handled is Pam's. That is the only one of that model I've ever seen. I like it a lot....Euro, right? Remington had a Euro a 10-15 years back too. I like it but it had a detach-mag that didn't match the gun.

It's been years but if I recall correctly I glass bed this barreled action with the stock untouched. It was relieved nicely for the barrel from the factory, it just needed bedding. The finish is oil, just enough to seal the wood but as you can see it is not built high enough to burry the grain. I slicked the action and reworked the trigger to a crisp snap with a +3# pull since our hunting is cold weather with stiff fingers. I'm a firm believer that a nice trigger isn't necessarily a spooky 1/2 pound hair trigger.
Unique skip line cut checkering, faint cheek piece, straight comb and a mild schnabel forend. It all works pretty good for my eye.
Not bad for a savage.

Why did you make me learn that on my own you GSD?
Not sure what GSD stands for but it could very well be "Goofy Senile Dave." I do believe I told you about it in March when I bought the scope and your response was "Veddy interesting"

Who will stand with me in my movement to occupy deer stands?
(for future reference this is a spoof on "occupy wallstreet" which is a flash in the pan hippie and entitlement group effort which we will strain to remember a year from now)

I'm occupying one of mine at predawn Saturday. Best I can do to help. I'm protesting everything, but mostly, I'm protesting being one of the 99 percenters that end up shooting baby deer every year.
