Hello, i'm new to the sight and I was wondering about some rumors I have heard about the frame stretching after about 500 rounds. I have one in .223 so I know they are good rifles. Just thinking about the higher pressures involved... Perhaps a boltgun is in my future. Sorry about the long post.

I would not worry about it.I'm sure H&R would take care of it.Welcome to the CF.

Thank you, I heard somewhere that due to the higher pressures, the frame would stretch....kinda like the um, KR98-K maybe? something like that... well, anyway, thanks for the Quick reply and the greeting.

I have a 30=06 that has shot 300 rounds and absolutely no stretch. My 45/70 has put 500+ hot loads through it without problem. I tend to agree it is someone who dislikes a reasonably priced no frills rifle talking junk.

Over the years, the only round I have heard that they have much frame stretch issues is the 500 S&W mag. My son has a 30-06 handi, and no issues at all.

Some conversions were done on the weaker frame (old style), and whatever the rumor, larger casehead/higher pressure were a no-no.
I believe the SB2 fame is the stronger frame. DO NOT TAKE MY WORD FOR THAT - OUT OF THE LOOP ON H&R since Marlin takeover.
Suggest contacting someone at H&R with frame serial number for up to date advice, should you need too.

SB2 is the stronger frame. SB1 is for shotgunsa and 357 and 44 mag, currently.
