I've got a load scribbled down in my notes "to try" in my Ruger Blackhawk which consists of:
Winchester Brass 250gr. Hornady XTP WLP primers 13.5gr. Blue Dot COL 1.600"
But for the life of me I can't find it in any of the books or manuals I own. Not sure where I saw it.
Can anybody verify this is safe thru print material or experience..?

Quickload predicts 14,832 lbs-psi, and 925 fps via 5" bbl.

I can neither confirm nor deny the safety factor but Lee's 1st ed. has the top end a full two grains below your loading. 11.5. This is for the lead 250 grainer. There isn't a listing for the jacketed bullet and the rest of my manuals are in the basement.

Hornady's 8th Edition doesn't show BlueDot with that bullet in either the revolver or TC/Ruger data sections. They do list BD with their 225-gr Flex-Tip FTX bullet, but with a shortened case. That bullet also has a longer bearing surface than their 250-gr XTP, so it would be unwise to extrapolate load data.

I have used 13-14 grains of Blue Dot in thousands of 300gr. cast bullet loads in Anacondas, Balckhawks, M25's, Bisleys.
Sierra has their 300 gr. bullet list up to 16.5grs Blue Dot for single shot pistol data. Up to 14 grains in Ruger data for their 300 gr. bullet, up to 17 for their 240.
Speer lists 13 grains with their 260, too.

I load that bullet with 19 grains of 2400. I use Blue Dot, but not with that bullet weight.

FWIW, Dave Scovill also used his 270 SAA in Colt single actions and New Service DA's with Blue Dot and 2400 loads based on Speer data for their 260 load.
