Well, the #3, anyway. (Oops, this thread was about flops, not ugly.)

No, no. That market is about to explode, think zombie attacks. Shoot and decapitate in one easy motion. The Bass-O-Matic of the firearms industry.

One I had hopes for was the Ruger XGI in 308 Winchester. The advertising made it, but the rifle was a no-show. I ordered one of those through my dealer. Go a nice letter from Ruger telling they had decided not to produce it. I think they used the leftover barrels to make the mini-thirty.

What about that factory centerfire rifle ammo with rounds with vermint bullets in sabots? Forget what they were called... Was never too keen on those. accelerators

Definitely WSSM. EtronX wasn't stupid. There was nothing going for WSSM - it didn't work because the rifle and ammunition manufacturers hadn't done their homework.

But somebody won a bar bet by getting it (WSSM) into production.

I would probably order a Ruger XGI today if it shot worth a flip (1 to 2 inches @ 100 yards) and had a walnut stock. Both requirements are things Ruger seems to have a problem with on their auto rifles.

I don't think EtronX was a mistake. removing the mechanical action allowed for greater accuracy. Just can't find shells at any convenience store.

Dornaus & Dixon "Bren Ten" would be another flop. This is one that I never wanted. The design looked a little complicated to me and I generally want a magazine to come with my auto pistol...I am not sure what caused the ultimate demise of the firearm, but it wasn't long in coming.

10mm semi autos? Maybe not the "biggest" flop but never really caught on.

Glock 20 and 29 seem to be chugging along fairly well though.

What about the A-bolt? (now where's the pot stirring icon)
I'd say MUST be on the list, maybe not at the top. An A Bolt 300 Win Mag is the ONLY rifle I could not get to group and Browning COULD NOT either. I returned it to Utah with a clear letter of explanation. They worked on the inletting and the bolt that I could tell. Still would not group. Needless to say I don't own it.

Rem 660, Rem Nylon 11 &12, rem 798, 6.5 Rem mag, 223 WSSM, 45 GAP, 7x30 Waters were all flops just to name a few.

Steve_NO I think if you do some serious checking you will find the Federal Gov't bought them out and took it off the market. It is one of those things the Gov't reserves to them self. Cheers NC Sorry I didn't identify, it was the gyro jet, in revolvers, rifles and under water fish spears. nc
