I have a 700 30-06 Mtn Rifle that I would like to have rebarrelled. I am thinking along the lines of 280 or 280 AI. I want the barrel length at 23"...The rifle weighs 5lb 11ounces as is in a new edge MR profile.
WHat custom barrel profile would be very similiar to the current MR barrel contour and yet be stretched to 23" without adding 1/2lb to the weight? Thanks

Call PACNOR or Douglas and see of they will make you a MR contour that will finish up at 23" vice the standard length. Douglas made me a 24" MR barrel about 15 years ago.

Pretty sure that Lilja has the Mtn contour on their list of available contours, that and also the slightly heavier KS Mtn rifle contour.

RH yep, I agree. go direct to the source and you will get the best answer. while some high quality barrel makers are hard to get hold of, they are a wealth of information.

I have had two, a Hart and a Krieger. I much, much prefer the Krieger. I think there are a lot of barrel makers that can match the Mt. Rifle contour.
