Have a 1000 Cubic Inch fanny pack and want something larger. Like fanny packs as they leave my back dry, I use them for day packs. Narrowed my choices down to Sitka's Ascent 14 (1400 CI) and Cabela's Guide Model (1300 CI). The Ascent is a little bigger and is hydration system enabled. The Guide Model is a traditional style fanny pack, where the Ascent is a tear drop style that rides a little higher on your back. Now the kicker, Ascent is $199 where Guide Model is $89. Is the Ascent worth the extra $110?

I have an older Cabelas fanny pack. 'bout 6 years old I guess. Don't know the size but it has plenty of room. Enough so that it can start to get heavy. It rides on my hips all fall and winter for my day trips. Cannot wear it out. Hope this helps.

I had an older model Sitka 14 and I had two problems with it. To begin with I have a short torso and I could not adjust it to fit me correctly. Secondly the horsecollar type of shoulder straps dug into my neck. I sold it to one of my students for archery hunting and he loves it. He is taller and has an much longer torso than mine. It also didn't seem to hold as much as I would have liked.
