wondering if any of ya'll had one. Thinking of getting one in 375 to complement my 375 Number 1. Want a lighter 375 H&H, something on the lines of a ruger alaskan, but in H&H. Haven't read anything bad about em so far, seem to be very accurate. Opinions?

Very impressed. One of our biggest sellers in factory .375s up here in Alaska and glowing reports from all of our customers who got one

buds gunshop has em for 1500 bucks with free shipping. Figured i'd throw a 1.5-5 leupold on it with quick release rings and have a tough tifle.

i doubt if the Winchester will be much lighter than the 798. mine is 9# 8 oz. scoped.

Winchester all the way. You selling that 798? If so, what caliber is it?

I have one and like it. MOA accurate and typical SAKO build quality, pleasing lines, and balance.

Man why couldn't you make it an easier decision like a sako or savage? No offense to savage but deciding between sako and winchester..........thats a hard choice lol. Me personally, I'd go with the sako as I already have one in 338 federal. That and it is a tad bit lighter.

Saw and fell in love with the Kodiak 375H&H. Worry over parts and Beretta USA CS pushed me another direction.

Give an example of bad Sako customer service through Beretta USA. I read a post not too long ago where a particular individual was complaining about his experience with Beretta USA, but his issue, in my opinion, was the result of the operator(end user). I think he complained about difficulty getting a response and I don't think he liked the answer he received.

I've personally had three dealings with them, and I had a prompt response and resolution each time. They appear to value user feedback as just recently I wrote them a letter requesting import of a particular Sako that was not on their list of USA rifles. In a matter of a few months they did so and I now have this rifle in my hands. Granted they are not as phone accessible as Ruger where you can get someone on the phone fairly quick, but I've had no issue at getting a registered electronic response for the Sako within a reasonable amount of time.

Thanks smile

gary, read on here i believe that you bought the black bear. You liking the sako pretty well? I just think te kodiak may basically be my 375 H&H alaskan. I figured i wanted a short one and by the time i bought a winchester or other and cut it down, added sights etc, I'd have more than the sako in the first place. Likewise, i have read NOTHING bad about the kodiak. PS they do make quick release rings for them right?

Anyone want a mauser 375 and a marlin guide gun. I need some money!

GaryVA-

Just the reports on various message boards of CS issues and writings of a few gun scribes about lack of parts. The Kodiak is still a stunning rifle to my eye. I do not have any experience with them myself.

BTW-that Black Bear looks pretty damn good. You gonna post some pics of yours?

Here's the label smile I wasn't expecting the Black Bear so quickly, so I'm geared up to use my longbow and Sako 30-06 on my upcoming trip. I'll need to wait until I return to spend any time with this new 9,3x62.

Best!

if i can get rid of my guide gun and remington 375, one will be on order. Figure i'd slap a 1.5-5x leupy on it with some QD rings. I've got the wants bad!

I have one and have played with it a bit. Two feed issues have cropped up...first, I experienced occasional failures to feed in which the bolt would ride over top of the cartridge in the magazine without picking it up. Second, I experienced situations in which the cartridge bound while feeding, presumably getting hung up on something while being chambered. Took the rifle and two mags to my gunsmith who was apparently able to replicate the problem with both mags. Corrective action involving internal polishing and slight opening of the magazine lips. I haven't yet tested the rifle to see whether the problem has been resolved.

After you get a season with a Sako Kodiak I'd like it if you'd post of your experiences with both rifles in similar situations...

Bearing in mind that at half the cost of the Kodiak the owner of a 798 Safari in 375 H&H could afford whatever gunsmithing you needed done.
