I tried the 209 Blackhorn powder, my new Leupold 3x9x40 muzzle loader scope with the ballistic reticle. It works! Shooting 110 grains powder a cci 209 magnum primer and a 250 grain TC Shockwave. I bore sighted it, shot 1 at 25 yards, shot 2 at 100 yards a minor adjustment was needed. Shot 1 at 200 yards, dialed the power selector till the 200 yard dot was where it hit. Then I shot a 3 shot group of 1.5 inches at 200 yards with the 200 yard dot.See attached photo. I have to go somewhere else to shoot any further.I am very pleased!!

Good group, I am shooting the same components with the exception of bullet. I shot the sample 5 shot pack of shockwaves a few weeks ago with my son. We were running 95 grains of Buckhorn and he recovered one from a dirt bank at 50 yards. Strangely the yellow tip was pushed off to the side and back a little but the slug itself had no expansion. You may want to try a 300 grain Hornady FPB at some point. Or it may just have been a fluke on the ones we were shooting.

Nice going..! Looks like you either got lucky on the first try or got a rifle that isn't finicky. Either way that's good shootin..!

It has been a good shooting gun in the past with 777 pellets but hard to keep clean,I like the Blackhorn. 8 shots and no swabbing out the barrel!I had really good luck in the past with these bullets killing deer so tried them with the new powder. Here is a shot of the gun.

I was surprised at how nice the trigger was on ours straight from the factory as well. If junior ever draws an Iowa tag, we'll scope it out and see what it does. For a lightweight backpacking elk rig, this seems pretty hard to beat as issued from factory.
