I was adjusting the eyepiece today on a VX-II and noticed that the reticle would move when turning the eye piece. I tightened the lock ring back down and everything seemed ok. Is this normal? All my other leupolds are at the farm, so I have none to compare it to.

Does the eyepiece have any movement in it meaning can you wobble the eyepiece left/right or up/down when the locking ring isn't tightened ?

Yes you can move the eye piece when it is loose.

That's why you are seeing reticle movement.....long story short the reticle isn't moving it's an optical illusion because of the play in the eyepiece.

I've seen it before with Leupold's and other brands that use the older style focusing system. Frankly, I prefer the old style compared to all the newer stuff with those fast focus eyepieces.

When you say you can "move" the eye piece, does that mean side to side or just that it will turn ? If it moves side to side, it needs to get returned to Leupold for repairs. E
