Not sure about the Savage action. The 8mm Magnum is a true long magnum. The case is considerably longer than a 7mm or .300 Win. I'm betting that the Savage won't be long enough.

ER Shaw builds rifles on their version of the Savage action, and they offer the 8mm Rem Mag. A friend is having them build him a .416 Rem Mag for Africa (I know, but he likes the Savage action having killed a bunch of stuff with his '06 M110).

Lordy I want an 8mm Rem Mag, but I know it will beat the living snot out of me... I have a Ruger M77 Mk II 300 RSAUM with a hard rubber pad and after 6 rounds or so I have had an "elegant sufficiency"...

I have a 8mm Rem Mag on a Rem 721 action with 700 bolt and trigger and 700 CDL stock. I don't shoot it anymore because of back & shoulder problems, but it sure is an Elk thumper. It can be bought, any interest in this rather than building one.

Mine is a Rem. 700 Classic and I don't think it kicks any harder than my 700 Classic .35 Whelen. I heard horror stories about its recoil. A friend and I were shooting mine right after I got it and we decided that the story tellers were wussies. That said, I'm a big guy 6'3" 250 lbs and seem to be less recoil sensitive than most. Finding a Classic or 700 BDL shouldn't be too hard.

Thanks Ray
