Got nothing much to add but that is such a cool story that I'm going to say congrats again. Great hunt, sorta profound, and well told.

Awesome story Wade, glad you finally scored on an elk this year, and bonus cool points for doing it with your buddy's rifle, near his final resting place.

The wife didn't have any luck this year we saw over 100 elk the 4 days we hunting but no legal bulls. Still a good year as we got out blood pumping every day we went out by seeing elk just nothing legal.

Again congrats!!

Wade;
Thanks for sharing your hunt with us sir, what a great way to honor the memory of your friend. The story really spoke to me somehow and I really appreciate you taking the time to let us "come along" so to speak.

Congratulations on this very special bull.

All the best to you and your fine family and good luck on the rest of your season's hunts.

Dwayne

Well done Wade......

Nice sentiments, great pics, nice bull and nice background into your weapon of choice this year. Better yet......your reasoning for using that particuar rifle. I hope that someone honors me with that same type of decision someday.....but not too soon....LOL.

I hunted the Westside for better than a decade (Nooksack herd until '92 when it was closed) and totally understand the terrain your pics show so well. Beautiful, but not easy to traverse nor to navigate in. For me, that's what makes your bull even more special than many.

To say that a Westside elk hunt is tough and grueling is a definte understatement. Toughest hunts I ever had........bar none.

Congrat's and what a nice way to honor your friend, his family and your relationship together.

Can't help but think that bull was hand delivered via your hunting buddy. To let you know he's still with you on every hunt.. Congrats on an awesome bull!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats Waders,
I recognize that hanging moss and understory fern crop. It's what made Lewis/Clark turn around and walk back through 2,200 miles of hostile Indian country to get home <<grin>>.

That's a pretty good sized swamp-rat there ... sure looks like moose country too.
If I close my eyes, I can inhale the high humidity sweetness of damp Fir and Cedars, combined with the musky perfumed deposits of post-rut bulls.

What a photo, so full of life and vitality. Thanks for putting it up for us to see. It fills out the story much more completely.

This is exceptionally good stuff.
